Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration
"the source and summit of all preaching
of the Gospel is the Holy Eucharist."
(Presbyterium Ordinis - Paul Vl)
How to Encourage Commitment to the PEA Program:
- The Eucharist is the source and summit of
the spiritual life of the parish because the Eucharist is our
Lord Jesus. Therefore, pastors should often preach and teach
on the Eucharist and PEA.
- Continually look for more adorers and substitutes.
Don't stop at just one adorer per Holy Hour.
- Adorers at times need to be reminded of the
importance of attending their Holy Hour.
- Prayer Teams. Each is composed of the Adorers
who attend the same Hour each day. They are headed by their
Hourly Co-ordinator. They meet at least monthly to pray/socialise.
Their normal format is to meet for one and a half-hours to share
about their spiritual life, miracles in their life, relationships
with other people, and personal joys and fears. If an adorer
is unable to attend one or more of his Holy Hours he may swap
with a 'team' member for those Hours.
- The Eucharistic Adoration Team (EAT). This
team consists of a group of the most enthusiastic Adorers headed
by the Pastor with the Head Co-ordinator. They should meet at
least once every two weeks. They do what they want to do, which
is to think almost constantly about ways to promote PEA as the
source and summit of the parish.
- The complete Schedule of Adorers should be
displayed near the chapel entrance.
- A Registration Book is available for adorers
to sign in and out - so that the Hourly Co-ordinator is assured
each hour is covered.
- The Sign-up Sheet. Near the Registration
Book will be a Sign-up Sheet. This will be a sheet/form with
instruction for people who maybe interested to sign up, to write
their name and address - so they can be contacted. A copy of
a Sign-up Sheet is enclosed.
- The Volunteer. The Volunteer or Adorer is
a person who is assigned to the Registration Table for at least
5 minutes after each Mass. His/her role is to answer questions
and ask people to sign up. He/she has the authority to sign
people up on the spot, by simply writing their name in the Schedule
of Adorers. The Volunteer then organises to introduce them to
their Hourly Co-ordinator who introduces them to their Prayer
Team. This ministry is performed from personal initiative.
- A Personal Invitation: People may volunteer
if personally asked. In one parish in the USA, the Pastor phoned
or visited 49 men in order to ask them to sign-up for a Night
Hour. Every man asked was delighted at being asked, and all
but a few signed-up.
- The St, Michael Prayer; Astonishing breakthroughs
with PEA programmes have occurred in the past when parishioners
have recited the St. Michael Prayer together. To be repeated
often.
- All Parish organisations should actively
pursue a Eucharistic piety within the parish.
- A Parish Meeting is
held monthly to inform and encourage. Sharings-testimonies are
included.
- Friday is a day to pray and perform acts
of penance, for the needs of PEA in the parish.
- A day of prayer may be held one day a month,
to pray for parish PEA.
- At least once a year, another Sign-up Sunday
can be conducted, where invitations are distributed to each
person in the church, to obtain more adorers/substitutes; i.e.
Corpus Christi Sunday or the day the parish opened Perpetual

 Jesus
waits for us in this sacrament of love. Let us be generous with
our time in going to meet Him in adoration and in contemplation
that is full of faith...
May our adoration
never cease.
